The end of October

As we say goodbye to the month of October, we are climbing into the higher temps of late spring and early summer here.  We topped 90 for the first time last weekend, which we celebrated by going to the beach for the afternoon.  Of course, the water temperatures are still chilly at around 65-68.  We enjoyed the afternoon and carved a pumpkin on Sunday in honor of Halloween.  Halloween is really not celebrated here.  A few people do parties and some areas do trick o treating, but no one that I know was really doing anything to celebrate it.  Sam was very excited about carving the pumpkin but was horribly dismayed to hear that we weren't "doing Halloween."  Aleeya and her family had us over for a barbeque, but we didn't do anything Halloweenish.  Sam this morning was still asking to "do Halloween."  I think I will buy some face paint this afternoon and we'll do a little dress up this evening.  Nowhere to go and a day late, but it will hopefully help out a bit.
The next big event for us will be Joe's birthday and the lack of Thanksgiving.  Joe's birthday actually falls on Thanksgiving this year.
I went to a scrapbooking retreat last weekend.  Parts of it were lots of fun and good times, but I didn't like my roommate.  Her personality just grated on my nerves.  I was also stuck sitting next to her the entire time.  I do really well to get along with almost everyone, but I was getting a headache from her.  I almost left a day early just to get away from her.  (Sorry to complain, but that just happens sometimes!)
In truth, not much is happening here.  I just thought I'd write something since it's been awhile.
Cheers!
