We pretty much spent all day Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday outside enjoying the warmth and the sun. What glorious sun it was too. It was the kind of sun that soaks all the way down into the soul and warms it from within.
What a difference a day makes. We woke up to clouds and gray skies. As we were getting shoes on to take Tom to school, he looked at Jay and asked Jay to take him. And he did. So Sam and I had our shoes and jackets on, but no place to go. So we went to Storyville again. Just as much fun today as it was last week. I didn't bring the camera though. I wanted to just spend time with Sam.
Today, he played with mostly different things than last week. We built houses out of magnets, ball ramps for the balls, furnished an entire dollhouse and played with the people for it. We dug in the rubber "dirt" and planted carrots again. Sam also grilled up several toy hamburgers and hot dogs for us to eat.
We had to turn the heat back on last night. It was getting a little chilly in the house since it turned cooler outside. The playground at school was filled to the brim with Tom's classmates as they too tried to squeeze one more outside playdate in before the rain arrives. It was chilly for us moms though.
I made the gumbo last night and with the exception of Sam, it got rave reviews. Joe is one of our pickiest eaters and he was the only kid who ate seconds of the gumbo. The gumbo was almost perfect. I went to two different stores in search of okra with no luck so we made it without. Just as good though. Joe asked me this morning if we could make gumbo again sometime soon.
I was having a discussion the other day about my outlook on things. I am not a half-full glass person. I am not a half-empty glass kind of person either. I am simply a half-glass kind of person. It just is half. That's all.
A LOST note: I am very uncertain about the alternative realities that are the story line right now. While it is nice to see that Ben is a nice person, it's just distracting. I would prefer to just focus on the island story line which is very good versus evil right now.
A side note: I mentioned a blog that I read recently a few weeks ago. I started following the blog too. The author of the blog is actually getting interviewed by CNN next week as her story is becoming well known. Her blog had a little over 700 followers when I first read it. It has over 2000 now.
I can usually find frozen okra and it works well in gumbo. It serves as a thickener so you can also use Gumbo File (found with the spices) to serve this purpose. Just an FYI. Also, I am going to try this recipe! Thanks!
