Okay, so before we rented the house, we knew there was going to be a bit of work done on the front of the house. There were a few loose tiles that were falling off and needed to be replaced. I spoke once to the company in charge of the repairs and he promised to come to the house the following week. Well, two weeks went by and 2 workers showed up at my house to start work. 8am in the morning and no warning. They removed the remaining tiles on the front of the house and then jackhammered the tiles off the deck. It took them 2 days to finish. One worker, Eric, said that the job would take 2 weeks in full and that the waterproofers would come by the next day. Well, a full week went by before I came home to find two strange men on my deck. Since there are no stairs or anything, they'd just put a ladder up against the house and climbed up to work. They finished the first coat and promised to be back the next day and could I please be home? Sure, I can be home. Later that night, I got a call from a plumber who is going to come measure the vanity in the bathroom in order to replace it. It has a tiny, 1/4 inch chip on one corner. Would I be home tomorrow for him to come measure for it. Yeah, I'll be here cause I'll be waiting on the waterproofers.
I dropped the kids quickly at school the next morning and then raced back home to wait. The plumber came and measured the vanity, but the waterproofers never showed up. Over a week went by and I talked to our rental agency about the deck. She called the owners who called the builders. I was just trying to find out when stuff was going to get done. We have a great deck, but we can't use it. I finally got to talk to the builder guy. He said that the waterproofers did come back the next day and finish. I assured him that I was home all day and didn't seem them. He didn't believe me. Whatever. I asked when everything was going to get done, but he didn't really have an answer. He had scheduled a tiler to come do the tiles, but the tiler had a skateboarding accident and broke his ankle. He is off for 4 weeks. The builder is trying to find someone else, but this is a busy season for workers. The builder said he may have someone here on Thursday and promised that he would do better about letting me know what was going on. Of course, that fell through as later in the day, I got a call from a glass company wanting to come measure the front door for a screen door. They are coming on Wednesday. I can't wait until all this work is done.
ugh. i hate the contractor ballet dance. but at least you're getting it done by professionals! diy can be a pain!
